About universal values

I read an article last night about the debate over universial values and the author criticized ^ Chinese government is rejecting western values such as democracy , freedom and human rights and so on .

On my point of view, values in different nations and cultures may have their different meanings ,especially in China , which a very complicated county , we should not impose western values on ^ Chinese government and Chinese people for western values are not equal to universal values .

In my eyes, values are universal when they are abstract [needs explaining] . Nobody in China is arguing against "life , liberty , and the pursuit of happiness ", but rather where the boundary of "the pursuit of happiness " is in real life .

I think valuees are the children of a culture . China needs to absorb some western values . But it needs to do it on its unique cultural foundation . Cloning the "western model " is not the answer, not when the "universal" western model doesn't even exist.

All in all ,it is clear, therefore, that the universal values are depend on different countries and national conditions. They are not any a western model to define the universal values .
